How the idea for the TAPELIXA® was born
The idea for the TAPELIXA® did not come about overnight. It is an idea that I have carried with me for many years, and whose origins go back to my childhood in the interior of Brazil.
As a child, I saw my grandparents washing clothes on stones by small rivers and streams. After washing, I saw them rubbing their feet over the stones to remove dirt and dead skin. Of course, I could not have known then that this simple image would remain in my memory and, many years later, take on such important significance in my life.
I thought: Why shouldn't people be able to simply care for their feet while showering, in a simple way that becomes part of their daily routine?
That is how the idea for the TAPELIXA® began to take shape.
For over 15 years, I have been working on this idea, step by step. At the beginning of this journey, I even submitted the concept to a Dutch television program for new ideas. I was not selected, but the idea never disappeared.
In the meantime, life went on. Work, children, school, and all the responsibilities that come with building a family demanded my attention. As a result, TAPELIXA® developed alongside me, slowly but continuously.
Years later, I took significant steps in Brazil to turn the idea into a real project. I worked on protecting the product and the brand and had my first prototype developed. That prototype was far from the product I ultimately envisioned, but it was an important milestone: for the first time, I could hold a physical version of something that had existed primarily as an idea in my head for years.
Back in the Netherlands, I continued with the development, and a second prototype emerged. The road was not always easy. There were attempts that did not yield the desired result, decisions that had to be reconsidered, and collaborations and solutions that ultimately did not fit the project. But every experience has taught me something and has helped me to understand better and better what TAPELIXA® is meant to become.
Today, I have arrived at a new phase.
My vision is to create a surface developed specifically for the shower environment, combining safety, water resistance, and a suitable texture. The goal is to support daily foot care during showering and assist in removing dead skin cells and calluses, without relying on various loose tools left lying around in the bathroom.
For me, foot care should be a natural part of our daily body hygiene. That is why this website was created.
Now I am looking for the right industrial partner: a company that sees the potential of this project and possesses the technical knowledge and production capabilities to translate years of development, testing, and learning into a safe, functional, and marketable product.
The TAPELIXA® started with a little girl who saw her grandparents tending to their feet on the stones of a brook in Brazil. Today, many years later, I am ready for the next step: making this memory, this need, and this dream a reality.
